South American Dragon event

Post by Mickey Lake » Tue Dec 04, 2007 3:31 pm

Congratulations to the organizers and participants of the recent event in Punta del Estes. From reading the reports it seems a grand time was had by all. Congratulations again to Tommy Mueller, Peter Warrer, and Julia Bailey, and their teams, for prevailing in a tough fleet of Dragon sailors.

Now, what is the forecast for Dragon sailing in South America? Is there interest? Are there sailors there who want to be a part of the class? Is there anything that we here in North America can do to help them get started? Will this event become annual?

If there is anything that I can do personally, or that we can do as a fleet, to promote the sport of sailing, and especially sailing in Dragons, in this hemisphere we would be glad to help out.
