CHILDHOOD Race cracks the 1 million Euro mark
First racing day of the BMW Dragon Grand Prix
June, 13th, 2013 - The wind didn´t make it easily for the sailors of the BMW Dragon Grand Prix in Kühlungsborn at the first day of racing today. Direct the first start had to be terminated with a callback, because most of the sailors had a jump start. The second start went better. The German team with helmsman Hendrik Witzmann, which starts for the United Arab Emirates, was the only crew, which chose the right side and won the race. The team with professional sailor Markus Koy and Max Waimer got off to a clear start-to-finish victory. Followed by the crew with the German helmsman Markus Wieser - starting for the Ukraine - and the team with helmsman Thomas Müller of the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein. "Until then, we had fantastic sailing conditions with sun and wind between 12 and 18 knots," said race director Andreas Denecke.

The second race with much more wind won the team of the Belgian Ben van Cauwenberg, second Benjamin Morgen of the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein in Hamburg, third Lars Hendriksen from Denmark. But a fourth rank of the German Vice-World Champion Markus Wieser was enough to secure the leadership position in the overall ranking, because the third race was indeed started by 3 pm, but had to be stopped, "Well that was bad, very shortly before the finish we had a wind shift of 180 degrees", said the race director Andreas Denecke. Second overall is the Ukrainian team with Yevgen Braslavets and third is the German team with Thomas Müller.

At the opening ceremony yesterday, 14 boys and girls ran with the different flags of the participating nations. "A beautiful festive frame and also the tombola went well. One of the highlights was two tickets for the German Touring Championship, sponsored by the title sponsor of the Dragon Grand Prix, BMW", said the Commodore of the German Dragon Association, Rupert Fischer. "The VIP package from BMW for the Norisring from 14th July auctioned Dr Ingo Ehrlich ". But the tickets were hotly contested. Also Marine Pool Manager Robert Stark would like to visit the Norisring. Along with the donations of the CHILDHOOD Race the one million euro mark has been cracked". Over the past nine years we have collected for children in need of CHILDHOOD Foundation - a year before the anniversary, we are proud that we have exceeded the magic mark," said the organizer Manuela Libor.

Tomorrow at 11 am sounds the first warning signal for BMW Dragon Grand Prix.
