Well, the lake is frozen over and we are under 3 feet of snow here in New Brunswick, Canada. Time to think about sailing. In fact it is time to do boat repairs. I need some help with rib repair. My old mahogany hull on white oak ribs needs work. I would really appreciate any thoughts about rib repair. I have several ( 3 or 4 ) ribs that have split where they make the big bend into the bilge. I have reviewed the West System classic boat manual and they seem to suggest that a sister rib would do. They warn against using epoxy on white oak as the grain is so tight that it cannot penetrate and hold very well.
I am sure there are lots of amateur and pro builders out there that have been here before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
