The beginning of spring was a bit 'stormy' everywhere and on the Italian Riviera the weather was not far behind. The first and second legs of the 2018 Italian Championship, respectively in Sanremo and in Alassio, have been windy and the specialists have enjoyed it.

The competitors have been fully satisfied with the ashore and offshore organization of the Yacht Club Sanremo and the "Al Mare" Sailing Club of Alassio and are now preparing for the Ernesto Quaranta Trophy, the third and final step of the Championship, which will take place from 15th to 17th June in Imperia, organized by Porto Maurizio YC and YC Imperia.

The first four helmsmen were classified in the same order in both legs. The provisional ranking after the first two events sees then in the lead Giuseppe Duca (Compagnia della Vela) (1,1), followed by Michele Benvenuti (LNI Riva del Garda) (2,2) and in third position by Alberto Marconi (YC Italian ) (3.3).

To note the active participation in the regattas of the classic dragons, built in wooden before 1972, which validly compete on equal terms with the dragons in fiberglass. In Imperia we will see numerous "woods" competing also to conquer the Ernesto Quaranta Trophy, perpetual challenge, which is assigned to the first classic dragon of the overall classification.

An excellent opportunity to train on the regatta field of the last stage of the Italian Championship is offered on 12 and 13 May by Rossese Regatta, one of the three events of Liguria Sail & Taste Series 2018 organized by Porto Maurizio YC in collaboration with the YC Imperia .
The relaxing debrief of Saturday night among the olive trees of the Inland area is part of the event.
Note that the dragons participating in the Rossese Regatta can stay for free on the Marina quay while waiting for the Ernesto Quaranta Trophy.
